Empowering Young Farmers in Indonesia Through Global Knowledge and Local Action
In August 2023, representatives from Birckhoven Advies participated in a significant agricultural development initiative in Serang, Indonesia. The event marked the official opening of the Agro Edu Wisata Markaz Komobid, an agricultural education and tourism hub designed to promote innovation, sustainability, and youth engagement in the farming sector.
The initiative brought together national and regional authorities, including senior officials from the Indonesian Ministry of Agriculture, military representatives, local government leaders, and community figures from Banten Province. Their collective presence reflected the strong commitment of Indonesia’s agricultural sector to modernize production while integrating education and community empowerment.
Birckhoven Advies was involved in this initiative through its advisory support and contribution to knowledge transfer between the Netherlands and Indonesia particularly in areas of agri-innovation, circular food systems
, and educational program design. Drawing on Dutch agricultural expertise, the collaboration aims to strengthen the capacity of local institutions and young farmers to apply modern and sustainable practices adapted to regional needs.
As part of the opening program, a symbolic hydroponic melon planting took place, representing both the start of operations at the new center and the shared vision of nurturing the next generation of Indonesian agricultural leaders.
